The High Points Signed
Guess who just signed up? Oh yes, it’s true. The High Points are officially an ADSRecords artist. It happened on our ludicrously fun label night on the 14th July in Watford. You can look forward to the indie-funk benefactors taking their performance around the country this autumn and they’ve not long been in the studio. Could it be a new single? An EP?
Let’s explore North Europe. From Darren Campbell in the UK, to Pwned By Gravity in Sweden, to Oscar Jensen in Poland, the music is as equally spread out between singer-songwriter, electro-rock and indie-pop. Cam fills it all in with info and updates. There’s a lot going down at the label right now, so get up to speed in case you miss a single!
Oscar’s blend of edgy electronics and traditional rock sounds fits right into the 21st century angst that laces the lyrics of Love Never Dies. It’s from his debut album Hello which is on the verge of release. It’s also our first encounter with Poland where he’s currently based, although Oscar is originally from Canada. Keep an eye on this guy, and this country’s music scene.
PBG's Starry Night
Our love affair with Swedish indie is no secret. What may have passed a lot of people by though is that between PBG’s rampant tour and Valle Hope’s debut, they dropped a surprise single. Classically mellow and upbeat, Stealing The Starry Night carries itself with more grace than a yoga-practicing swan. Try getting that ‘stealing the starry night’ line out of your head. It won’t work.
There aren’t many songs that advertise themselves so perfectly in the first bar as Darren Campbell’s Wherever You Are. The understated guitars and drums support without obstructing Darren’s emotive voice, and the whole thing becomes a release. For a fuller experience check out the music video or the Darren Campbell Diaries series over on YouTube.
Valle and his England
Valle’s debut single England seems to have tasted good for everyone. Wait until you hear the EP. Except there won’t be much waiting for Your Missed Calls, as the release date is 3rd August! That’s also the day Valle comes to this very England to play a string of gigs around the country. Check if any are near you over on his website.
