PBG Copes With It
It may have been a quiet Christmas for the Swedish foursome, but the next few months will be anything but. First on the agenda is a roadtrip to Copenhagen and the surrounding areas. Comprising three performances in the capitol, another in Roskilde and a fifth to be confirmed, we do feel we’re giving the Danes a fair bit of Pwned. If you’re not in Denmark don’t worry, other international exploits are fast on the horizon.
If you’ve been taking life a little too seriously recently, Zé Vito has the cure. Take a deep breath, lean back, and let the Rio born composer and instrumentalist carry you into warm nights. Zé Vito has recently moved to Lisbon and is prepping the launch of his fourth studio album, it’ll be the first available in English alongside the original Portuguese.
From neo-soul to Latin jazz to indie-pop, May’s show is as varied as ever. Welcoming Ruth Roubelle and Zé Vito alongside Pwned By Gravity, the music this month has roots stretching from Rio to Lisbon, Manchester to Stockholm. We hope it keeps you going on your open-eared journey, and that you enjoy our usual selection of newsbits.
Ruth’s soulful sounding voice feels familiar and modern. I Fall In Love All Over is all about bass and bounce as she swings and soars her way through the love song. It’s both bluesy and upbeat. If it gets you going, the good news is she’ll be releasing a new song very soon. It’ll being with a ‘H’, watch this space.
One year ago just gone, Pwned By Gravity released their seminal EP Time And Time Again. It’s a beautifully crafted collection of songs that have come to define PBG’s sound, from the seething passion of All My Might to the elegance of Two Minds At The Same Time. This time around, we’re enjoying the warmth of track four - The Memory Lane.
